US President Donald Trump has lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing him as a strong and effective leader who ranks among the world’s most influential figures alongside Chinese President Xi Jinping.
In an interview with an American news portal, Trump said Modi has brought stability to India after years of frequent political changes and noted that he has remained at the helm of the country for more than a decade. He credited the Prime Minister with providing consistent leadership during a period of significant economic and geopolitical growth.
Speaking about India-US relations, Trump said trade ties between the two countries have become fairer and continue to remain robust. He noted that both nations are engaged in substantial business cooperation and share a strong strategic partnership.
Trump also remarked that Prime Minister Modi enjoys considerable respect on the global stage and is tougher than his calm and composed public image may suggest. The comments come amid continuing efforts by India and the United States to deepen cooperation across trade, technology, defence and regional security.
