As the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) continues its investigation into India’s alleged involvement in “widespread violence” in Canada, sources suggest that more layers of the operation may soon be exposed. Despite the recent expulsion of six senior Indian diplomats, sources say a clandestine network supporting these activities remains active, with some members possibly departing voluntarily to avoid arrest.
The RCMP’s investigation has revealed that India’s covert operation in Canada is multi-layered, involving both willing participants and those pressured by Indian diplomats. Sources allege that some Indo-Canadians were coerced into surveillance or informant roles through threats of withholding travel visas required to visit India.
The killing of Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey, B.C. in 2023 is described as just one part of a broader operation. Sources allege the Indian government has been trying to portray Canada as a haven for violence, using extortion and intimidation tactics. Canadian authorities believe senior officials in India’s government directed the operation, although India has denied involvement and demanded evidence.
As the RCMP investigates further, the focus has shifted from lower-level gang members to diplomats and intermediaries believed to be working between the diplomats and the perpetrators of violence.
