The U.S. Postal Service has temporarily suspended accepting mail bound for Canada as the Canada Post strike enters its third week. The disruption comes after 55,000 Canada Post workers walked off the job, causing widespread delays and forcing businesses and individuals to seek alternative delivery methods during the critical holiday season.
Canada Post has presented the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) with a framework aimed at resolving the dispute. The proposal includes measures to bring greater flexibility to the delivery model and addresses key union concerns. CUPW negotiators are currently reviewing the offer, but no resolution has been reached.
The strike has left businesses, charities, and individuals scrambling, with delays impacting everything from holiday shopping to essential services like receiving cheques. The suspension of U.S. mail to Canada adds further pressure as the holiday season approaches. Both sides remain at an impasse, and a swift resolution is needed to mitigate the growing disruptions.
