Pulled 60 Minutes Report Reappears Online With Canadian Broadcaster Branding

A previously unaired segment from the U.S. news program 60 Minutes has resurfaced online carrying Canadian broadcaster branding, prompting questions about how the material circulated beyond the United States. According to The Canadian Press, the segment appeared on the web Monday featuring Global TV identifiers, despite being pulled from its original U.S. broadcast.

Multiple media reports indicated the segment was uploaded to StackTV, the streaming platform operated by Global TV, though it was no longer accessible by late Monday. Global TV and its parent company, Corus Entertainment, did not immediately respond to requests for comment about how the content appeared on the platform.

The report had been removed ahead of its scheduled U.S. airing by CBS News. Editor in chief Bari Weiss said she made the decision to pull the segment, which focused on deportees who described severe mistreatment at a prison in El Salvador.

Journalist Sharyn Alfonsi, who reported the story, said the segment had been reviewed and approved by CBS lawyers. Speaking publicly, Alfonsi accused Weiss of acting to avoid conflict with the Trump administration, which has been openly critical of the long running news program. Weiss acknowledged that the report contained compelling testimony but said it did not sufficiently add new information to an issue already covered by other media outlets. The unexpected appearance of the segment online, carrying Canadian broadcaster branding, has added a new layer of scrutiny to editorial decisions and cross border media distribution.
